Artist Statement:

I have always enjoyed being creative whether it’s writing a letter, culinary skills, frosting a cake, sewing a dress, or gardening. When returning to college I chose to keep that in mind by taking classes I was sure to enjoy being creative with theater play writing, fine arts and computer graphics. Earning my Associates Degree in Fine Arts and Certificate in Computer Graphics in 2001. I had continued having fun with my Pastel and Oil painting by competing in local Juried Art Competitions. It wasn’t until I teamed up with Master Artist Ramon Ramirez, who I chose as my Art Mentor. Studying with him for four years; within the first year my artistic ability was noticeably advancing from novice to professional selling my first commissioned artwork “Morning with Sister” portrait of a horse imagery posted on this webpage. By my second year earning City Manager’s Award, in Lancaster’s Juried Art Show with “Bernie’s Angel” and displaying my artwork at the Galeria Gitana in San Fernando, California.

I had a thirty-eighth year career with the Federal Government, and a Cancer Survivor having
recently retired from AFRC NASA, at Edwards California I am enjoying art more than ever and
I want to encourage anyone who has ever had a deep desire to learn about fine arts. Get involved in some capacity. You owe it to yourself to be surrounded by others who think the way you do. I recently relocated to Ridgecrest and have enjoyed getting acquainted with the community by getting involved first with Church and Desert Artists’ League (DAL) and have not once regretted it.
